North Clarion County School District

Reading Competition

Welcome to the NC Reading Competition!

The reading competitions are some of my favorite events of the year, and I hope they are yours as well!  All bibliophiles are welcome to join our teams.  It's a great way to make friends and share your love of reading with others.  It's also a great way to find some new awesome books to try!

Book Reviews: To see reviews of content, reading level, and maturity level, check out these websites: Goodreads.com, ARbookfind.com, and https://www.commonsensemedia.org/book-reviews.  Please do not commit yourself to reading a book you and your parents are not comfortable with.

Practice Sites: http://www.bookadventure.com/,  http://www.funtrivia.com/quizzes/literature/young_adult_fiction.html

Accessing Books: Our school library will have 1 copy of each book on the list.  I also have a few of the books in my classroom library.  If someone else has already checked out a book you need, try a public library near you (I KNOW the Marienville library has most of the books, and am sure others do as well).  If they don't have a book, ebook or audio CD for you, they can order it from another library!   You could also ask Mrs. Barron to place a hold for you or use interlibrary loan.  Some books are in ebook format as well--ask Mrs. Barron which books you can check out for your Kindle, Nook, Kobo, or other ereaders.  Also, some books can be found for free on the Project Gutenberg website!
