Grades will be determined on a point basis. Each quarter will be worth 22.5% of a student’s overall chemistry grade.
Grading will include:
Chapter Tests- at the end of each chapter there will be a 100 pt. test.
Quizzes- (both announced and unannounced)- 10 to 25 points each
Lab Reports- 20 to 40 points each
Research Reports and Oral Reports- 70 to 150 points
Class Activities and Projects- 10 to 50 points each
Midterm Exam- students will take a comprehensive test on the content covered in the first half of the year. The midterm will be worth 5% of a student’s overall physical science grade.
Final Exam - students will take a comprehensive test on the content covered in the 3rd and 4th quarters with Mr. Guth. The final will be worth 5% of a student’s overall physical science grade.
**All late reports will incur a 10% penalty. An additional 10% penalty will be added for each day the report is not turned in. If a student is in school, he or she is responsible for handing in all assignments that are due. If a student is excused from class for any reason, including but not limited to, athletic competitions, field trips, or doctor’s appointments, all assignments must still be handed in before the class period.
CLASSROOM BEHAVIOR:
- You must be on time to class.
- You must be quiet, courteous, and attentive while material is being covered
by the teacher or other students.
- There is absolutely no fooling around during labs. You will be removed from
the lab and given a zero with no warning.
- You should participate in classroom discussions and ask questions.
** If you are silent I will assume you understand the material. If you do not understand, you must tell me to slow down.
