In the early 1900's
Northern Clarion County youth
were educated in small schools spread across the landscape.
Located near Farmington Township was the Wolbert School and Kerr School.
The Lauer School was in western Knox Township. There was a school on Madden Drive, called the Madden School.
Huefner, Strobleton, and Fryburg also had schools. A few of the old school houses are pictured below.

The Farmington School Building was built in 1918 by Elgin Sloan of Shippenville.
The building, located along Route 36 near Leeper, is still in use by Kahle's Kitchens.
The Fryburg Public School in the 1920's was located along Old Fryburg Road near the present site of the Fryburg Sportsman's Club.
