Nature Trail

____________________________________

North Clarion County Elementary maintains a 15-acre forested nature trail.
The main objective of the nature trail is for environmental studies of various forest resources including a forested wetland and pond.
A second objective is to enhance wildlife habitat, forest esthetics, and biodiversity of flora and fauna.

The school forest features a one-mile nature trail loop highlighting tree identification and growth, stream quality control, various wildlife habitats, reforestation, wetlands, and a wildlife pond.

The facilities are to be used by the students and faculty of North Clarion and local community members.

The nature trail was originally constructed in 1985.  After suffering years of erosion and flash flooding, Mr. David Stake spearheaded a large group of local volunteers to implement a forest stewardship plan to restore and upgrade the trail in 1999.

Students are shown here photographing pond life.
